Brandon, Florida was named after Landowner John Brandon back in the late-nineteenth century who purchased 40 acres in the New Hope area. Brandon is unincorporated and yet is still growing quickly with a population of over 100,000 residents. The residents have easy access to the fresh strawberries every year nearby in Plant City. Eventually, the New Hope Church was built on land donated by John Brandon. New Hope Church was not only Brandon’s first church but it was also the first school in Brandon, Florida.
